Particulate measurement within the German PTI from 1 January 2023

After the Netherlands and Belgium, it is now Germany's turn to take the step and introduce mandatory particle measurement.

The German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure has published an amendment to the directive on the performance of Exhaust Emission Testing on motor vehicles in its Transport Bulletin No. 8 2021.

The purpose of this amendment is to introduce the measurement of the concentration of particulate matter PN for vehicles equipped with compression ignition engines of the Euro 6 /VI emission class.

This measure will replace the current opacity measurement for vehicles of class 6 /VI and above and will come into force from 01.01.2023.
